Robert Plant, “lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar” Now on TouchTunes

On September 9th, former Led Zeppelin front man, Robert Plant, will release his 10th studio album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar on TouchTunes. The album is Plants’ first release since 2010’s, Band of Joy, which followed 2007’s six-time Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss, Rising Sand.

lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar features 11 new songs, 9 of which are original recordings written by Plant and his band, The Sensational Shape Shifters. “It’s really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep,” Plant says. “The whole impetus of my life as a singer has to be driven by a good brotherhood. I am very lucky to work with The Sensational Space Shifters. They come from exciting areas of contemporary music…I have been around awhile and I ask myself, do I have anything to say? Is there a song still inside me? In my heart? I see life and what’s happening to me. Along the trail there are expectations, disappointments, happiness, questions and strong relationships…and now I’m able to express my feelings through melody, power and trance; together in a kaleidescope of sound, colour and friendship.” In support of the album, Plant recently announced that he will embark on embark on a North American tour with The Sensational Space Shifters this fall.

TouchTunes’ Tom Petty ‘Hypnotic Eye’ Sweepstakes

Starting July 29, 2014, TouchTunes is kicking off a national three-week promotion in support of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ new studio album, Hypnotic Eye.  Nearly 40 years after his first recording, Petty still packs a punch, says Joe Levy, Billboard's editor at large. ”It's a more raw-sounding record than he's ever made,” Levy says. Unlike his concisely crafted, radio-friendly early discs, “this is loud and fierce, the way he and The Heartbreakers sound live.”

In addition, TouchTunes is featuring a sweepstakes for a chance to win a turntable signed by Tom Petty and Hypnotic Eye on vinyl. Petty fans are required to download the TouchTunes mobile app (iOS or Android) in order to automatically be entered into the sweepstakes. Existing TouchTunes mobile users can also enter by visiting www.touchtunes.com/tompetty and submitting their TouchTunes’ username.

(No purchase necessary. Must be U.S. resident, 18 or older, with an iOS or Android mobile device and data plan as of 7/28/14. Ends 11:59:59 p.m. ET 8/18/14.)

TouchTunes Promotes Ed Sheeran’s Second Studio Album, X

On June 23, 2014, 23-year-old superstar Ed Sheeran’s second studio album, X, will release nationwide on TouchTunes. Raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, Sheeran moved to London in 2008 to pursue a musical career. In early 2011, Sheeran released an independent extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project, catching the attention of two industry legends: Elton John and Jamie Foxx. He then signed to Asylum Records. His 2011 debut album, +, containing the singles “The A Team" and "Lego House,” was certified quintuple platinum in the UK.

Sheeran gained popularity in the United States in 2012, made a guest appearance on country pop star Taylor Swift's fourth studio album, Red, and wrote songs for One Direction. “The A Team” was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards and he performed the song in duet with Elton John during the ceremony. With the release of X, Sheeran admits many songs of the album were inspired from wild nights and “drunken regret,” including “Don’t” and “Sing.”
